Novelty
If you do something in a fundamentally dumb, backwards, or inefficient way, the result may not be good but it is very likely to be novel.
I had this thought while writing code to make CSS shapes that look like little people to move around in a Rogue-like web app game, but I think it has generall application. If there's some genre where nobody else uses a certain technology or approach because it's obvious a Bad Idea(tm) and you do it anyway, whatever the flaws of your final product, it won't look like a cookie-cutter copy of all the sensibly-designed alternatives.
